The Danes probably founded and it’s not clear if they surveyed properties before exchange. SCARBOROUGH gets its name from the Danish word Burgh meaning castle or fortification.

Moving to modern times:

The 19th century saw a a huge number of improvements to the town of Scarborough. In fact during 1805 an Act of Parliament formed a body of men called the Improvement Commissioners with powers to pave, clean and light the streets of Scarborough (with oil lamps).

The notorious Rotunda Museum opened in 1829. One of the first waterworks company was formed in Scarborough in 1844. We also know Cliff Bridge opened in 1827 and more lately Valley Bridge opened in 1865.

The age of steam Scarborough in 1845. The town came became very popular with the Victorians making one of the firsts seaside towns. Victorian terraced propertied populate rather a lot of the town. Theses properties have undergone much alteration and repair work. Hence the need for a survey.

Why you should get a survey

Survey is a travelling document which identifies a condition of the building at the time of inspection. This report is our most economical.

The peace of mind report is our most popular. It contains common sense advice. This report provides a valuation and a buildings reinsurance figure. It will comment on structural issues, damp timber infestation roof walls and floors. Provide advice for your solicitor. A general list of repairs and advice. Your home is a large investment and a survey will protect your investment.

Building Survey (RICS – Level 3)

This detailed report is specifically designed for older larger and properties and historical dwellings.

Houses which are built before 1900 often require a Building Survey or level 3 report. The defect cause and remedy will be identified. Significant and urgent issues are identified. We discuss general requirements and building alteration proposals. The pathology of the building is often discussed.

In essence this holistic view is essential for listed and period buildings.
